The following Dakota words are printed in the colors from the Sound/Color Chart found in the previous Lessons. If you have worked through those rather sketchy lessons, you can now read and pronounce these Dakota words on your own. You may be surprised at how easily you have learned. You shouldn't be.

If you do not speak Dakota or Lakota, you will not
understand what you are reading. But the process to read another
language will be the same--so if someone can speak a language, they can
easily learn to read it. If you do speak Dakota, now that you can
read, there is no longer a need for the colored letters.
(Webmaster's Note: The word chart is best seen on a 256 color screen.)
Practice writing the Dakota words you hear in Lesson 3 or Lesson 5. Feel free to email us your list.
*Reading Drills coming soon.
Future Lessons: you will have the oppportunity to discover the meaning of some of the words you can now pronounce and read.
